Lewis Center, OH

Our home base — and the community where our work is easiest to find.

Emerald Crest Landscaping is based in Lewis Center, so this is the area we reach fastest and know best. The Orange Township subdivisions that went up through the 1990s and 2000s are now reaching the age where the original builder landscaping has outgrown itself and the first-generation patios are starting to settle — which is most of what we are called for here.

The Area

The Community We Work In Every Day

Lewis Center is unincorporated Orange Township rather than a city proper, and it grew fast — a large share of the housing stock dates from a roughly fifteen-year suburban build-out. That creates a distinct pattern of work: mature builder-grade foundation planting that has swallowed the front of the house, original patios and walks now two decades into Ohio freeze-thaw, and larger lots with plenty of room for the outdoor living space the original build never included.

  • Fastest response in our service area

Being based here means shorter travel, easier scheduling, and quicker turnaround on estimates and follow-up questions.

  • Subdivision-era landscapes due for renewal

Overgrown builder shrubs, tired bed lines, and settling first-generation hardscape are the most common calls we get locally.

  • Built for Central Ohio clay

Glacial-till clay holds water, and water that freezes lifts whatever sits on top of it. Excavation depth, compacted base, and drainage are standard scope on every hardscape project rather than optional extras.

Local Considerations

What We Plan For on Lewis Center Properties

The conditions that shape nearly every project in Orange Township and the surrounding area.

Larger Suburban Lots

Room for full outdoor living layouts — patio, seating wall, fire feature, and connecting walkways designed as one plan rather than added piecemeal.

Overgrown Original Planting

Builder-grade shrubs planted too close to the foundation and never spaced for mature size. Removal and replanting transforms the front of the house.

Ageing First-Generation Hardscape

Patios and walks from the original build now showing settling and washed-out joints — often restorable rather than needing replacement.

Drainage on Flat Lots

Much of the township is relatively flat, which means water sits rather than runs. Grading and pitch matter as much here as slope management does elsewhere.

Winter Access

Long suburban driveways make snow and ice service worth setting up before the first storm.

We had a great experience with Emerald Crest. They were responsive, professional, and easy to work with. The crew worked quickly while still paying attention to detail, and they left everything neat and clean when the job was done. The finished project looks fantastic and completely transformed our space. We’re very happy with the results and would definitely recommend them!

Local FAQ

Lewis Center, Answered

Questions specific to working on properties in this area. General service questions are answered on each service page.

Are you actually based in Lewis Center?

Yes. Emerald Crest Landscaping is based here, which is why Lewis Center gets our quickest response times for estimates and scheduling.

Our subdivision landscaping is original to the house. Where do we start?

Usually with removal. Builder-grade foundation planting is almost always installed too close to the house and too close together, so after twenty years it hides the architecture. Clearing it and replanting with correct spacing is the single biggest visual change available, and it is not an expensive project.

Do you handle snow removal in Lewis Center?

Yes, for both homes and commercial properties. Booking before winter is worth doing, since it means we have already walked the property and know where the hardscape and obstacles are under the snow.
