Sod gives you a complete lawn the day it goes down. Whether it establishes into a good lawn or a patchy one comes down to what happened to the soil underneath it first.
Prep Decides the Outcome
Laying sod takes a day. Getting the ground ready to receive it is the work that decides whether you have a lawn in two years. Old turf and debris have to come out, the grade has to be smooth and pitched to drain, and the soil surface has to be loose enough for roots to move into. Sod rolled over compacted, unprepared clay looks perfect for three weeks and then starts to thin.
We clear what is there rather than laying new sod on top of failing grass, thatch, and rubble.

Rolls butted tight and pressed into contact with the soil so seams knit together instead of drying out and showing.

How It Goes
We measure the area, check drainage and light, and identify anything that caused the previous lawn to struggle.

Sod FAQ
It depends on what you are optimising for. Sod gives you a finished lawn immediately and resists erosion on slopes; seed costs less but takes a full season or more to fill in and is vulnerable while it does. We will give you a straight recommendation for your site rather than pushing the bigger job.
Most residential lawns are installed in a single day once preparation is complete. Larger areas or sites needing significant grading take longer.
Consistent watering during establishment is the whole game — new sod needs far more water in the first weeks than an established lawn. We hand over specific instructions, and following them closely is the difference between rooting in and drying out.
Always. Removal, grading, and soil preparation are included as standard. Sod laid directly onto compacted clay or over existing dead turf will not establish properly regardless of sod quality.
Spring and early autumn are ideal, since moderate temperatures and reliable moisture make establishment easier. Summer installation works too, but demands much more diligent watering.
